PRO-GLUE Veneer Bond products were engineered and developed for veneering, laminating and forming of wood and high pressure laminates by woodworking professionals. This superior line of veneer laminating and forming products consists of a “two part” modified liquid urea; a dry, pre-catalyzed modified urea; and a "ready to use" veneer softener. PRO-GLUE VENEER BOND products have been developed, tested, and used by Paul Schurch, the preeminent marquetry furniture maker working today, to meet his exacting high standards.
Pro-Glue Veneer Bond Liquid Resin is a liquid urea resin that is mixed with a powdered ‘inverse catalyst’ hardening agent, creating a hard permanent glue bond well suited for veneering and laminations. The light and dark powdered catalyst hardener, which comes with the liquid in pre-measured packets, can be used separately or blended to tint the pure white, urea adhesive for approximating different shades of wood, making seams and any bleed-through on thin veneer virtually invisible. Urea resin bleed through on veneer sands off easily, and will not affect finishing. Custom glue colors can be created by mixing aniline dye into the resin prior to mixing it with the powdered hardener.
Pro-Glue Veneer Bond Dry Resin is a pre-catalyzed modified urea dry powder prepared by simply adding water. It has the same superior characteristics as the liquid only in the convenience and economy of a dry form.
Pro-Glue Veneer Softener is specifically formulated to aid in flattening and making the veneer more flexible for better conformity and adhesion. This is extremely important when working with burls, crotches, and curled veneers that are traditionally difficult to flatten, even under pressure.
One of the major benefits of PRO-GLUE VENEER BOND is the adhesives dry hard, leaving a rigid glue line which is sand able, stainable, and won’t “gum up” tools when machining. This hard glue line also prevents any “spring back” when doing curved parts. Probably the most important characteristic that makes PRO-GLUE VENEER BOND adhesives superior to similar products is it's formulation, which contains no alcohol and less than 2% formaldehyde, making it ideal for use on projects such as government buildings and schools, where certain chemicals are restricted. |
"These products solve many of the challenges faced by both the professional and accomplished amateur wood worker." - Paul Schurch
